What to see and do
We look forward to hearing from you.
- Otters
- Otter Haven at Kylerhea
- Ring of Bright Water - The book and films were based on Gavin Maxwell who lived within a few miles, on an island where the Skye Bridge now crosses.
- Seals - whether basking on the rocks or floating around, looking at the "natives!"
- Fishing - This is popular all around the island. Locally you may be competing with the seals and the otters, but there are lots of fish there; that's what attracts the seals!
- Bird watching - Small & large birds, on land & sea, from your doorstep ... and elusive! Look out for Buzzard and Osprey or the White tailed eagle. Aros Visitors Centre, near Portree, has CCTV viewing right into the nests and a guide can give an interesting insight into the life and habits of the various birds. RSPB members can visit the exhibition free, otherwise a small fee is payable.
- Climbing - The Cuillin Hills are renowned but there are many other places on the isle. Dave & Jeanette are keen climbers and can advise on suitable places to visit.
